Born June 8, 1916, in Meyersdale, a son of Sallie Strattan Thompson of Meyersdale. Also survived by widow, Lenore Englehart, and these children: Richard B. of Meyersdale, Nancy L. Stoystown, and David C. of Meyersdale RD 3. He graduated from Juniata College and the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical School. He practiced as a veternarian [sic] in Meyersdale for 27 years; was member of the Penn Allegeheny Veterinary Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association; also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and vice president of the church council; former president of the Somerset County Library Board and past president of the Meyersdale Library Board; past president of the Meyersdale Rotary Club; member of the F&AM Lodge 554, Royal Arch Chapter, 272; Harrisburg Conistory; Altoona Shrine; and was a veteran of World War II. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Thursday in the Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale. He will be taken Saturday to lie in state from 1 until 2 p.m., time of service, in the Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lloyd Wilson officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery.
