She was born in Clearfield, Nov. 27, 1889, daughter of Clark J. and Clara (Buterbaugh) Duncan. Her husband, Dr. R. G. Stringer, died in 1945. She is survived by her mother and four daughters - Louise, at home; Mrs. Martha Clauss, New York City; Mabel, Los Angeles, Calif., and Caroline, Troy, N.Y.; also by one brother, Bernard Duncan, Washington, D.C.; and four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Geddes, Johnstown; Mrs. H. W. Gardner, Sebring, Fla.; Mrs. Mary D. Curren, Windber, and Mrs. L. J. Luteri, Somerset. Mrs. Stringer belonged to the Christian Science Church of Johnstown. She was an active member of the Windber Woman's Club, and was second vice president of the Somerset County Federation of Women's Clubs. A number of years ago, Mrs. Stringer and her daughters conducted dancing classes in Meyersdale. The last few years, she and her daughter Louise had an unusual hobby, the propagation of earthworms for fertilizing purposes. Meyersdale Republican, September 30, 1948
