"Chuck" Stroke, 81, of Fourth Street, Acosta, died Sept. 7, 2003, at home. Born Sept. 2, 1922, in Tars, Westmoreland County son of John and Naomi (Daniels) Stroke. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Katherine Davis, and Eva Hoopes and brothers, Floyd and Daniel Stroke. Survived by wife, the former Mary L. Morrell; daughter Roseanne wife of Randy W. Williams, Husband Rd., Somerset; son, Tim, Horner Road, Hooversville and grandchildren: Michael, Stephanie and Stacey Williams. Also survived by sisters-in-law Evelyn Morrell and Loretta Stroke both of Acosta; brother-in-law Joseph Morrell, Seward and numerous nieces and nephews. Army veteran of World War II. Observed 52nd wedding anniversary, Aug. 25, 2003. Retired union carpenter for local 1490. Member of All Saints Parish where he had been an usher, member of the finance committee and enjoyed many church activities including building the current alter and Stations of the Cross at All Saints Chapel. Also member of Somerset Post 554 VFW and the Jenner Rod and Gun Club. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell where vigil for the deceased will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Chapel, Acosta, Rev. Father Justin Ratajczak, OFM Conv. Celebrant. Committal Somerset County Memorial Park with military rite in charge of the Somerset County Honor Guard. Memorials may be sent to "In Touch" Hospice, 1590 N.
