Born Sept. 12, 1917 in Jenner Township, son of William and Minnie Grace (Daniels) Stufft. Preceded in death by parents, sister Geraldine and brother James E. Survived by wife of 55 years, the former Freda Daniels; children David, married to June Gestine, professor of music at Toccoa Falls College, Toccoa Falls, Ga.; Larry, married to Margaret Roche, retired operations manager for AT&T, Allison Park, Pittsburgh; Keith, married to Leshia Hougton, vice president First Commonwealth Bank, Patton; Karen, wife of David Betting, teller for Portage National Bank, Richland; grandchildren Carolyn, Jessica, Benjamin, Brittany Stufft, and sister Fern Rutter, Boswell RD. Member of the Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, Jennerstown, and the UMWA. Retired in 1979 from the former Island Creek Coal Company. Army veteran of World War II (May 1942 - Dec. 1945), having served as a corporal with the 159th Combat Engineers in the Battle of the Bulge. Decorations and citations included the American Campaign Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern-Campaign Medal, with two Bronze stars. Loved woodworking and his various projects for family and friends including fiddles and furniture. Beloved husband, father and grandfather. Friends were received Sunday evening and will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, the Rev. C.J. Ickes and the Rev. Gary Anderson officiating. Interment, Beam Cemetery with graveside military rite in charge of the Somerset County Honor Guard.
