Stull, 82, Shanksville, died Oct. 24, 2006, at home. Born May 22, 1924, in Shanksville, son of the late Donald L. and Melva J. (Buhan) Stull. Survived by his wife, the former Caroline L. Fox, whom he married in 1947; children, Robert L., married to the former Kathy L. Jacobs, and Donna L., married to Brian J. Wilt, all of Shanksville; Dennis L., married to the former Claudia C. Smith, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Gerald L., married to the former Joy A. Miller, Strasburg, Va.; and Donald L., married to the former the Rev. Marleen E. Griffith, Williamstown; grandchildren, Michele A. Stull, married to Zerick D. Cook, Carlisle; Julie L. Stull, married to William E. Wagner, Somerset; Justus A. Stull, married to the former Kathy Shockey, Virginia Beach, Va.; Jessica B. Stull, married to Aaron Weaver, Kresgeville; Sarah Beth, Mark and Jennifer Wilt of Shanksville; and Ashley and Kelli Stull, Myrtle Beach; Sgt. Amanda L. Jacobs, U.S. Air Force, Texas; and Terri L. Jacobs, Wichita Falls, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Walker, Zarabeth, Zianna and Zachiah Cook, Luke and Eden Wagner and Mackenzie Weaver. A 1942 graduate of Stonycreek Township High School. World War II Army veteran with the 17th Airborne Division and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, and transferred to the 487th Bombardment Group in England until discharged in December 1945. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He worked along side his father in the family business, Shanksville Auto Co., where he became president in 1972, and continued with his son Dennis until 1997. Member of Shanksville United Methodist Church where he served in many volunteer positions. Member of Stonycreek Valley American Legion Post 911, where he was a past Commander and Sergeant at Arms, and the Last Man's Club, Berlin. Lifetime member of Shanksville Volunteer Fire Co., which he helped organize in 1951 and served as fire chief from 1954 to 1986. He was elected to Shanksville Borough Council, where he was a past president and served from 1958 until he was elected mayor and later retired in 2005. He served on the board of Walker Cemetery Association, member of Shanksville Silver and Gold Senior Citizens, Somerset Lodge 358 F&AM, Jaffa Temple Shrine, and Harrisburg Consistory, member of the Flight 93 Task Force, Archives Committee, and a Flight 93 Volunteer Ambassador. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Friday at Shanksville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Randy Newell and the Rev. Marleen E. Griffith-Stull officiating.
