STUP Mrs. Ellen Rebecca Stup, a native of Meyersdale and wife of Jesse Eugene Stup, was almost instantly killed when she plunged headlong down the attic steps of her home at Kensington, Md., on Monday afternoon. The heel of one of her shoes is thought to have caught on one of the top steps, causing her to fall. She suffered a fractured skull, and a physician, who was summoned immediately, pronounced her dead upon his arrival. Her husband and other members of the household heard her fall and rushed to her assistance. Mrs. Stup, who was 52 years of age, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John W. Young, who will be remembered by the older residents of town, as having resided in the residence now occupied by Nat Lacavera, and having conducted a grocery store on the site now occupied by the W. L. Dahl bakery. After leaving here the Young family located at Frederick, Md., and until recently Mrs. Stup resided at Gaithersburg, Md. Besides her husband Mrs. Stup is survived by the following children: Ross Y. and Gordon A. Stup, Mrs. Julia Feister and Miss Alice Virginia Stup, all of Kensington, Md. She also leaves a granddaughter, Betsy Ross Stup. Several brothers and sisters also survive, among them John W. Young, Hanover, Pa.; Charles H. Young, of near Baltimore; Ms. Bertie Folk, Gaithersburg, Md.; Florence, married, Miss Lydia Young, Frederick, Md., and Mrs. C. M. Klingaman, of Beachly Street, Meyersdale, a half-sister. Mrs. Stup during her girlhood days in Meyersdale was loved and esteemed by all who knew her on account of her unusually fine disposition and spirit of helpfulness - amiable, kind and generous - and in the more mature years of her life these qualities and traits were intensified and rounded out, making of her a noble, loving and devoted wife and mother. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon in the Ascension Episcopal Church, Gaithersburg, Md. Interment in the church cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, May 21, 1931
