Born Dec. 22, 1916 in Greenville Township, a son of Cyrus and Mabel (Shoemaker) Sturtz. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Edison, William and an infant brother; and sister, Mary Deem. Survived by his wife, the former Mildred Lape, with whom he celebrated his 55th anniversary on Nov. 9; sons, Charles, married to the former Connie Eash; and Richard, both of Lambertsville; brothers, John, Cyrus, Cletus and Raymond Sturtz; sisters, Julia Bridges and Blanche Peterman. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired coal miner. Member of Grace Lutheran Church, Stoystown and UMWA. Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, and from 7 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Stoystown, Rev. Walter L.
