She was the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth May (Knepper) Johnson; beloved wife of 58 years of Jacob Stutzman, Naples; mother of Walter Stutzman, Madison, Conn.; grandmother of Michael and Anne Stutzman, both of New York. Mrs. Stutzman graduated from Berlin High School in 1937 and studied at Indiana State Teachers College. She was the first female graduate of the Pittsburgh School of Embalming. Mrs. Stutzman worked in the family businesses: Johnson and Son Funeral Home and Johnson and Son Furniture Store, both in Berlin. She was the fourth generation to work in her family's funeral home, which was founded in 1830. During her residence in Los Angeles, she was active in a number of service organizations. She was a strong supporter of the Berlin Area Historical Society. She was a talented artist who produced oil paintings and ceramics as well as designed interiors for several Christmas Home tours in California. She was also an expert marksman and life member of the National Rifle Association. Mrs. Stutzman belonged to the Berlin Brethren Church, First Presbyterian Church of Naples, and Eastern Star Lodge of Somerset. Interment will be in Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery at a future date.
