"Rege" Suhre, 89, of Lakewood Manor, Bedford died May 31, 2001 at UPMC Bedford Memorial, Snake Spring Township. Born in Allegheny Township, Somerset County on March 8, 1912, he was the son of the late Pius and Mary (Buratty) Suhre. He was the husband of Helene (Kranchalk) Suhre, whom he married on July 12, 1941. Regis was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Carole A. Willis, Mobile, Ala.; son, Dr. Lawrence R. husband of Susan (James) Suhre, Mohnton; son, Neil E. husband of Lauren (Thomas) Suhre, and West Chester. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Wambaugh; and two brothers, Charles and Harold Suhre. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930's and later worked for the Reitz Coal Company of Central City as a coal miner, and retired from Exxon Corporation after 22 years as a salesman at the New Baltimore, Somerset, and Midway-Bedford Plazas. He was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore. He was a member of the New Baltimore Sportsman Club, Exxon Annuitants Club, and the Knights of Columbus, New Baltimore Chapter. Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Monday, with Rev. Mark Begly celebrant. Committal Service St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, and at 8 p.m. Sunday a vigil for the deceased will be held. Also the rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.
