Suhrie, 85, Pensyl Hollow Road, Bedford, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at Altoona Hospital, Blair County. Mr. Suhrie was born in New Baltimore, Somerset County, on Jan. 17, 1922, the son of the late Dennis Suhrie and Mary (Lilly) Suhrie. Mr. Suhrie was the widower of Catherine L. (Burkett) Suhrie, whom he married on May 2, 1946, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2004. Lawrence is also preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene, Francis, Cryil and Robert. He is survived by daughter, Mary Loretto, wife of Pierre Bellicini, Erie; son, John L. widower of Susan (Weaver) Suhrie, Cannonsburg; daughter, Barbara, wife of Greg Guise, Gaithersburg, Md.; son, Paul R., widower of Denise (Elders) Suhrie, East Stroudsburg; son, Dale T., husband of Jackie (Hinson) Suhrie, Alum Bank; son, Carl W., husband of Ann (Burdo) Suhrie, Bradfordwoods; daughter, Rosa K., wife of Dan Berbert, Montgomery Village, Md.; daughter, R. Beverly wife of Mark Kaprelian, Racine, Wisc. sis-ter, Marie Hankinson, New Baltimore; sister, Rita Werner, Broomall; sister, Dorothy Smith, Berlin. He is also survived by 15 grand-children, and five great-grandchildren. He was a farmer for East Over Farms in Bedford from 1950-1969 and drove delivery truck for Blackburn Russell Co. from 1969-1987. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. Lawrence was a skilled woodworker and an avid gardener, he was very proud of the fact that he remodeled and expanded his house by himself. He served in the U.S. Army as a Tec. 5 in World War II. Lawrence received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, where a vigil for the deceased will be held 8:30 p.m. A concelebrated funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Bedford. The Rev. Donald Dusza and the Rev. Raymond Crosser celebrants. A committal service will be held at the Saint Thomas Catholic Cemetery.
