Sutliffe, 86, of Somerset died Feb. 24, 1976 Somerset County Hospital. Born Aug. 15, 1889, in Shickshinny, Pa. a son of Furman and Emma Huff Sutliffe. Preceded in death by one sister. Survived by his widow the former Hope Heston; one daughter, Mrs. John R. (Hope) Wilkinson of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren. Brother of Adren R. of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; J. Furman of Hollywood, Fla.; and Mrs. George (Myrle) Gephart of Elizabethtown, Pa. Death ends a marriage union of 56 years. He was a member of the Calvary Methodist Church, Somerset for 50 years, and a veteran of WWI. He operated a general store in Somerset from 1923 to 1930. He served as postmaster in Somerset from 1932 until his retirement in 1955. He was a Mason for over 55 years and a member of Somerset Lodge 358 and the Pittsburgh Consistory and Jaffa Shrine. He was past commander of the VFW and American Legion. He was past president and served as secretary-treasurer for 24 years of the Somerset Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home where service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, the Rev. Arnold Kastner officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Masonic services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Somerset American, February 25, 1976 [S3357]
