Born May 27, 1929 in Sipesville. He was the son of the late Charles L. and Odessa (Hemminger) Swank. Survived by wife of 51 years the former Hazel Stutzman and these children: Mary Jane married to Michael Palinkas, Rockwood; and Terry L. married to the former Connie Phillips, Stoystown; grandchildren Kevin Carmean, Stacey Papinchak, Christy Reed and Tonia Swank, great-granddaughters Samantha Carmean and Sarah Reed. Brother of Ray E., of Davidsville; Melvin, of Friedens; Richard and Robert of Somerset; Lloyd, of Berlin; and Alice Stahl, of Meyersdale. He was a retired truck driver and farmer. A World War II Navy veteran. Member of Geiger Church of the Brethren, Mountain Field and Stream Club, Roxbury; Somerset American Legion and D.A.V. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Gerald E. Deffenbaugh officiating. Interment will be in Pike Cemetery, Brotherton. Memorial contributions may be given to the Geiger Church of the Brethren Building Fund, Friedens, Pa., 15541.
