Swank, 75, of Friedens, died Aug. 25, 2002 at Somerset Hospital. Born Oct. 1, 1926 in Lincoln Township, he is the son of the late Charles and Odessa (Hemminger) Swank. Also preceded in death by brothers, Ray and Clarence "Dean" Swank. Survived by wife, the former Virginia Gilbert, children: Mrs. Keith (Linda) Shirey of Latrobe, Mrs. Robert (Cheryl) Vought of Somerset, Edward married to the former Cindy Day of Friedens and Mrs. Randy (Janet) Shawley of Berlin. Grandchildren: Becky Miller, Keith Shirey Jr., Greg, Sue and Roger Vought, Alan and Steve Swank. Three great-grandchildren. Brother of Richard Swank of Somerset, Robert and Lloyd Swank, both of Berlin, and Alice Stahl of Meyersdale. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Jenner Rod and Gun Club and New Baltimore Sportsman Association. Retired truck driver. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Edward Devore and Rev. Sherman Berkey officiating. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park.
