Swank, 72, of Somerset RD 5 died April 19, 1994, in Somerset Hospital. Born March 29, 1921, in Somerset County. Son of the late Henry and Nannie (Horner) Swank. Preceded in death by son, James Allen, and brothers, Earnest, Charles, Lester; two infant brothers and one sister, Marian. Survived by his wife, Beula Walker, and these children: Barry married to the former Bonnie Durst; Clair; David, married to the former Judy Landis, and Judith, wife of William Rugg, all of Somerset RD 5; a foster daughter, Velma, wife of Melvin Lape, Rockwood RD 1; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Member of Faith Lutheran Church. Lifetime honorary member of the Somerset County Saddle Horse Association. Veteran of World War II. Retired from PBS Coal Co. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday in Faith Lutheran Church. Body will lie in state in the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service, Pastor Lloyd T. Wilson officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church, Shanksville Fire Department or the Somerset County Saddle Horse Association, RD 1 Box 334, Somerset.
