Swarner, 72, of Rockwood RD 1, died May 6, 1983, in the Somerset Community Hospital. She was born May 28, 1910, in Black Township, a daughter of Archie and Annie (Barclay) Benford. She is survived by husband, Wilbur (Sammy) of Rockwood RD 1; one foster son, Melvin Lasure of Point Chester, N.Y.; four daughters, Mrs. Walter (Lois Jean) Shaffer of Rockwood RD 3; Mrs. Walter (Anna Mae) Snyder, Rockwood RD 1; Mrs. Jack (Wanda June) Kalp, Jones Mill; and Mrs. Donald E. (Karen) Walker, Rockwood RD 1; sisters: Mrs. Cora Sanner and Mrs. Edna Brant, both of Rockwood RD 1; and half-brother, Ronald Benford of Rockwood; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by parents; five brothers; three sisters, one infant daughter and one infant grandson. Her death terminates a marriage union of 55 years. She was a member of the Rockwood Church of the Brethren. Friends were received in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood, where services were conducted with her pastors, the Rev. Scott Cooper and the Rev. Don Judy officiating. Interment to follow, Rockwood I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The Republic, May 12, 1983 [S3416]
