Swart, aged 75, retired businessman and farmer, of Washington, D.C., died from a heart attack early Saturday morning, June 7, in his apartment in the Victoria Hotel. Funeral services were held at the Winterberg Funeral Home, Sunday afternoon, Rev. Austin Schildmaster, Episcopal rector of Oakland, and Rev. George Bowersox, pastor of the Grantsville Lutheran Church, officiated. Interment was made in Allegany Cemetery, Frostburg, on Monday morning. Mr. Swart was born in Washington, D.C., January 25, 1872, son of Barnet and Sara (Bryan) Swart of Warrington, Va. He was the last surviving member of a family of nine children. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth (Stewart) Swart, daughter of Col. Andrew and Lelia (McCulloh) Stewart of Uniontown, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Swart resided in Grantsville the past four years. Mr. Swart made many friends among the towns people, who will miss his friendly greetings and interest in the community. Meyersdale Republican, June 12, 1947
