Swartzwelder, 72, Salisbury, died at his home June 14, 1987. Born April 9, 1915, in Salisbury, son of the late John S. and Savilla (Meese) Swartzwelder. Preceded in death by wife, Margaret J. (Hersh) Swartzwelder; a son, Stanley J. Jr.; four brothers, Harry S., Karl D., H. Guy and Roland M.; and one sister, Nettie. Survived by a son, Ronald R.; and a daughter, Vivian A., both of Salisbury; two granddaughters, Trish (Swartzwelder) Garlitz, and Heather Swartzwelder, both of Salisbury; and one sister, Mrs. Fern Moser of Coraopolis, Pa. Mr. Swartzwelder was employed by Keystone Lime Company, Springs, as a truck driver for 25 years before he retired in 1979. Veteran of World War II. Member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury; VFW Post 8826 and American Legion Post 459 of Salisbury; Salisbury-Elk Lick Hunting Club of Meyersdale; Masonic Lodge 554 F&AM, Hebron Royal Arch Chapter 272 of Meyersdale. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury. Masonic service at funeral home Tuesday at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mark J. Stewart officiating. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. John's United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or Salisbury Ambulance Association.
