Loving mother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Born January 5, 1933, near Brandonville, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Grace (Sister) Guthrie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charles I. "Bud" Swauger, June 19, 2000; one brother, Jeremiah Guthrie, one sister, Betty Isabell and one granddaughter, Jaclyn Warnick. She is survived by four daughters: Carol and Reuben Tice, Betty Jo and Randall Wiley, Marilyn Sue and Gary (Bruce) Warnick, all of Grantsville and Delma and Roger Murray, Meyersdale, PA; eight grandchildren: Todd Garlitz and wife, Cindy; Jason Garlitz, Jessica Warnick, Jennifer, Wade and Lauren Wiley, Kelli and Jodi Murray; one step granddaughter, Lori Menges; one great grandson, Tanner McKenzie Garlitz; three step great grandchildren, Alex, Erica and Sierra Menges; six brothers: James, Robert, Delbert, Floyd Ray, Harvey Paul and Carl Guthrie and five sisters: Marie Hixon, Thelma Russell, Mary Lou Guthrie, Helen Fike and Linda Galloway. Mrs. Swauger was employed by Flushing Shirt Manufacturing Co., Grantsville for 37 years. She served as Union President for many years and truly cared for many friends she worked with. She was a member of Woodman of the World and an active member of Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren for many years. She faithfully served our community by her involvement for 30+ years with the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, Md. on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM with Pastor Ross Glotfelty officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
