Swauger, 55, of 22 Redwood Drive, Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Grantsville, Md., died April 20 in Washington County Hospital. Born in Jennings, he was a son of the late William E. and Lula Belle (Hoover) Swauger. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren and a veteran of World War II. He was a teacher at the E. Russell Hicks Middle School in Hagerstown. Surviving are his widow, Eleanor (Herring) Swauger; a son, Lane W. Swauger, Oxon Hill; a daughter, Rebecca Moore, Albany, N.Y.; three brothers, Heiskell Swauger, Markleysburg; George E. Swauger, Hagerstown, Md., and William E. Swauger, Rice's Landing, Md.; and two sisters, Edna Livengood, Friendsville, Md.; and Ruthella Resh, Grantsville, Md. The body was returned to the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Md., where a service was conducted with the Rev. Eugene Matthews officiating. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.
