Some internal ailment was the cause of his death. He was 55 years of age. His wife died about two years ago. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Zimmerman, formerly of Garrett, now both deceased. Mr. Sweeney was a citizen of Garrett for many years. His chief occupation was coal mining. He also did a bit of mechanic work. Some years ago he erected himself a small road stand and sold gas and oil and auto accessories, and fixed cars, with the help of his oldest son, Benjamin, Jr., who passed away some years ago. After his health failed so that he was unable to attend to business, he leased his garage to Ed Christner. Mr. Sweeney was a man of a friendly disposition; he was liked by the small children, as well as by the older ones. It can be truthfully said that since his passing, Garrett has lost a good citizen. He was a good husband and father. He leaves to mourn his departure two daughters and one son, Stella, Mrs. Chris Barber, of Akron, O.; Amanda, wife of Scott Fulmer, of Garrett, and Harry Sweeney, at home. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sweeney home, in charge of Rev. Rowe. Interment in the Garrett Cemetery, in charge of J. N. Johnson & Son, Berlin Undertakers.
