Sweeney, 67, died Monday morning, Oct. 5, at his home in Garrett following a brief illness. He was a retired trackman of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. He was a son of Michael and Mary Sheen Sweeney. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Shroyer Sweeney and the following children: Joseph Sweeney, Garrett; Michael Sweeney, with the U.S. Marines at Parris Island, S.C.; Charles Sweeney, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. W. F. Phenicie, Garrett; Mrs. Frank Sheering, York Run and Mrs. Samuel Farber, MacDonaldton. Funeral services were conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 in the Garrett Church of the Brethren, the Rev. A. Jay Replogle, officiating. Burial in the Garrett Cemetery under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home in Berlin. Meyersdale Republican, October 8, 1942
