He was born in Swanton, Md., Jan. 1, 1913, the son of the late Jerry Sweitzer and Martha V. (Friend) Sweitzer. He was a member of Farrady Post 24, American Legion of Frostburg, Md.; Kennells Mills Sportsmen's Club; Corriganville chapter of Woodmen of the World and the National Rifle Association. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ in Kennells Mills. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alzene (Kennell) Bittner Sweitzer; two sons, James R. Sweitzer, Mt. Savage RD 1, Md.; Army Maj. Jerry R. Sweitzer, Enterprise, Ala.; two step-sons, Allen E. Bittner and Harry E. Bittner, both of Hyndman RD 1; one daughter, Mrs. Sandra Marie Fry, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Zembower and Mrs. Ruth Lohr, both of LaVale, Md.; one brother, Leonard Sweitzer, Bedford Road, Cumberland, and eight grandchildren. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home. Services were held at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home. The Rev. Galen Beitzel officiating. Interment, Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
