(Charlie) 03/18/06 Daily American Charles "Charlie" H. Swindell, 79, North Olmsted, Ohio, passed away March 15, 2006, in Westlake, Ohio. He was born in Shanksville and grew up on the family farm near Shanksville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl R. and Harriet L. (Snyder) Swindell, and one sister, Beulah Lape. He is survived by his wife Jean M. (Johnson); two sons, Robert (LuAnn), Valley City, Ohio; and Steve, North Olmsted, three grandchildren, Bryan Swindell, Montana; Jason and Ashley Swindell, both of Norwalk, Ohio; and four sisters, Ada Shaffer, Margaret Swindell and Doris Jackson all of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; and Shirley Meyers, Columbia Station, Ohio. He worked on a farm and also drove a milk truck and a school bus while living in Pennsylvania. He is a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After moving to Ohio, Mr. Swindell was a welder at the Cadillac Tank Plant in Cleveland during the Korean Conflict. He was then employed from 1954 to 1967 at North Olmsted Lumber and then from 1967 to 1989 at Westview Lumber. He retired in 1989 and he was an Honorary Retired Member of Teamsters Union Local 436 in Ohio. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Olmsted Community Church, 7853 Main St., Olmsted Falls, OH 44138. Burial will be private at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Olmsted Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the church. Kacirek Funeral Home, North Olmsted, is in charge of the arrangements.
