Swindell Sr., 55, of Salisbury RD 1, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1986 at Memorial Hospital in Johnstown. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, a retired truck driver and a former part-time deputy sheriff with the Allegany County Sheriff's Department in Cumberland, Md. He was born May 11, 1931 in Meyersdale, the son of the late Lewis and Hazel (Beynon) Swindell. His wife was the late Grace (Smith) Swindell. Survivors include one son, James R. Swindell Jr., Laurel, Md.; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Henry, West Salisbury; Mrs. Patti Fletcher, Springs; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Marie Zowacki, Sutersville; Mrs. Patricia Caster, Elizabeth; Mrs. Janet Sinnamond, Ruffsdale, and four grandchildren. Friends were received at the Thomas Funeral Home where services were conducted Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ted Russell. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery. The Republic, October 23, 1986 [S3517]
