Syphrit, 86, of Stoystown, Jenner Township, died Feb. 28, 2002 at Somerset Hospital. Born Dec. 5, 1915 in DuBois, he is the son of the late George and Catherine (Lott) Syphrit. Also preceded in death by wife, Ethel (Crise) Syphrit, sisters, Mable Syphrit and Elsie and brothers, Paul and Harvey Syphrit. Survived by loving daughter Virginia Pletcher of Rockwood, grandchildren: Sanford Pletcher and Melissa Maust and great-grandchildren: Joseph Maust and Ashley Pletcher. Brother of Homer Syphrit of Masadonia, Ohio, and Dora Fuller of Pittsburgh. Member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, Eagles Aerie 1801, Somerset VFW and was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired mechanic and repairman for Woy Brothers Pontiac. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Wilma Horner officiating. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park.
