Szewczyk (Sheftic), 76, Boswell RD 1, died May 12, 1993, at the White Star Residence, Jennerstown. Born Oct. 17, 1916, in Boswell, son of Albert and Jennie (Ozog) Szewczyk. Preceded in death by parents; brothers: Dan, 1965; and Casimer, 1969. Survived by daughter, Gloria Ann, wife of Daniel Decker, Rochester, N.Y.; three grandchildren: Dr. Jill, Elizabeth and Noah Decker, and former wife, Elaine (Forespring) Carroll, Jennerstown. Brother of Helen Kutchman, Boswell; Virginia, wife of Paul Frazee, and Martha Johnson, both of Johnstown; also survived by very close friend, Bonnie Laidig, and numerous nieces and nephews, including very special nephew, Sam Wisor, married to Chris Kinely, Hollsopple RD 2. Member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boswell TPA, Geistown Country Club, Somerset County Old-Timers Baseball Association; Jerome Post 802, American Legion; Johnstown Lodge 175, B.P.O. Elks; Greater Ferndale Sportsmen's Club and Jerome Nest 556, Polish Falcons. Past member and commander of the Boswell Post 461, American Legion and member and past president of the Somerset-Cambria County Licensed Beverage Association. 1934 graduate of the former Boswell High School and 1938 graduate of Villanova University, where he played basketball. Played baseball with the former Johnstown Johnnies. Army veteran of World War II. Former Boswell borough councilman. Owner-operator of Casa Nova Bar and Restaurant and operated former Sheftic's Style Center, Boswell, founded by father, for many years. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where wake service will be held Friday evening. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Church, with the Rev. Father Harold N. Biller officiating. Interment, St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
