Tallinger, died at her home, Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Dec. 22, 1943, at the age of 48 years, 10 months and 13 days. She was born and reared in Salisbury, but lived most of her life in Cleveland and Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Her health has been failing during the last two years, but she was confined to her bed only about two months. Being a person of unusual energy, and by nature a business woman, a considerable portion of her life was devoted to business occupations. During her last illness she did not seem to realize that anything serious was ailing her until shortly before she became bedfast. Then, after a thorough examination made by an eminent physician, an internal cancerous condition was found which was considered incurable. The seriousness of her condition was not disclosed to her, which saved her a big lot of mental worry, and enabled her to feel quite cheerful and hopeful of recovery. The day before she died she went into a state of coma from which she had no wakening. Mrs. Tallinger was the fourth of ten children born to Peter L. and the late Minnie Viola Green, a well-known school mistress, before her marriage to P. L. Livengood, when both of them were residents of Nebraska. Mrs. Tallinger was preceded in death by two elder sisters, Alma Grace, wife of the late Joseph B. Algire of Johnstown, and Florence, wife of J. N. Wagner of Akron, Ohio, also by her mother, who died Oct. 15, 1927, and her eldest brother, Robert, who died in infancy in 1893. Before she had quite reached the age of 18 years, Mrs. Tallinger had acquired a good business education at a Johnstown business college, and was employed as a bookkeeper and typist by two different business firms in Johnstown. While there she was attracted to Cleveland, Ohio, by an advertisement for help, and in competition with other applicants, landed a very desirable position with the Ohio Guarantee Tire and Rubber Company. In 1921 she became the wife of Mr. Tallinger. Surviving are the bereaved husband and three children, namely, Viola, who had a very desirable position with the New York Central Railroad Company; Charles A., Jr., who is a soldier in the Army and is now receiving special officer training at Grinnell College, Iowa, and Shirley Ann, who still has a year in high school. She is also survived by her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Livengood, Salisbury; one sister, Mrs. R. V. Callaghan, Cleveland, O., and five brothers - William S. Livengood, Jr., Somerset; Theodore L., Jennerstown; Peter L., New Jersey; John A., Harrisburg, and Joseph F., Meyersdale. Funeral services were held at the Edic Funeral Home, last Monday at 1:30 p.m., and were largely attended. A short funeral service was also held in the chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery, where interment was made. Among those in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. James Kelso, brother-in-law and sister of Mr. Tallinger; Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Callaghan, Cleveland; the five surviving brothers of Mrs. Tallinger, and J. N. Wagner and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Glenn Wagner, Akron, Ohio. Mrs. Tallinger had a wide acquaintance, and her friends were legion. During the last five or six years she was prominently connected with the Sales Department of a well-known Cleveland firm, which took her to many cities and towns, some of them in different states. Above all, she was a devoted wife and mother, and well versed in everything that enters into good housekeeping. Her father and step-mother were not at the funeral for the reason that her father was not in a fit physical condition to be away from his own home. Meyersdale Republican, December 30, 1943
