Grace M. (Shockey) Thiel, 85, Sipesville, died May 31, 2007, at The Patriot, 
Somerset. Born April 17, 1922, in Milford Township. Preceded in death by mother, 
Cordilla (Shockey) Tipton; stepfather, James R. Tipton; sisters, Thelma and 
Lois; and brothers, Charles and Jacob. Survived by husband of 56 years, Clifford 
E.; daughter, Linda, married to Terry Surgoine, Gray; son, Roy I., married to 
Mary Funk, Rowlesburg, W.Va.; grandchildren, Donald Messer, Mildred Gansor, 
Tressa Moats, Eugene Thiel and Sandra Thiel; and 14 great-grandchildren. Sister 
of Harold, and wife, Shirley, Ohio; Edith, and husband, Frank Morgan, Somerset; 
Emma, and husband, Ronald Stanfield, Ohio; and Barbara Tipton, Florida. Member 
of Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Somerset Pike. Retired employee 
of former Dorfman and Hoffman Garment Factory. Formerly helped husband, 
Clifford, with the family cattle breeding service. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 
8 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Main Street, 
Boswell, where a service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Dennis L. 
Doebler officiating. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery, Laughlintown. Memorial 
donations may be given to Christ Casebeer Church, 10377 Somerset Pike, Somerset, 
PA 15501.
