  Alvin L. Thomas, 91, Johnstown, died Nov. 8, 1995, at Laurel Wood
  Convalescent Center, Johnstown.  Born May 1, 1904, in Brothersvalley
  Township, Somerset County.  Son of William H. and Matilda (Long) Thomas.
  Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Margaret Meinholz, Sept. 20,
  1992; one great grandchild; four sisters and three brothers.  Survived by
  these children: Pauline J., wife of Julius F. Payak, Johnstown; Lawrence
  W., married to the former Gerry Standow, Palm Harbor, Fla.; A. Earl,
  married to the former Gerry Amalong, Akron, Ohio; A. Ruth, wife of Mike
  Jarrells, Columbus, Ohio; Robert E., Johnstown; Patricia J., wife of Jerry
  Fender, RD 2, Hollsopple; Rev. Donald R., married to the former Judy
  Charlesworth, Beaver, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
  Brother of Roy, Garrett RD 1, and Iva Bridgum, Strongstown.  He was a member
  of First Lutheran Church, Johnstown.  Retired foreman for R & P Coal Co.,
  Indiana.  Family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4
  and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday at George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc., Davidsville.
  Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church,
  Johnstown, Rev. Dr. Robert Swanson officiating.  Interment, Beachdale
  Cemetery.  Those who wish please make donations to First Lutheran Church,
  Johnstown.
