Thomas, 78, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, since January 1998 and formerly of Greencastle, Pa. died April 11, 1999, in the nursing home. Born Aug. 8, 1920, near Taneytown, Carroll County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Jacob and Mary Helen (Fringer) Crouse. She was employed for over 30 years at Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, Pa., having worked as an accounting clerk. She was a member since 1962 of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle, where her late husband, Rev. Robert E. Thomas, served as pastor until his death in October 1965. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (WELCA). She sang on the Senior Church Choir for many years and was a member of the Thomas Bible Sunday School Class. Member of Greencastle-Antrim Senior Women's Club. A 1937 graduate of Taneytown High School. Survived by daughter, Linda M. Redmon, Bloomington, Ill.; son, Barry R. Thomas, Greencastle; foster sister, Mary Mercer, Frederick, Md.; foster brother, Oliver Parrish, Taneytown; four grandchildren; one great-grandson. Preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Zimmerman and Mary Meyers. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 North Washington St., Greencastle, with Rev. Perry Hanson and Rev. John L. Rauch officiating. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Taneytown, with Rev. Donald M. Bohn officiating. No public viewing. It was her request that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 North Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
