Thomas, died at her home, 112 Beachly Street, at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 27. She was born in Ada, Ohio, the daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth (Welthey) Poling, June 3, 1878, her age at death being 67 years, 9 months and 24 days. Mrs. Thomas came to Meyersdale as a bride in 1896, her young husband, a native of Johnstown, having purchased the Kilgus Drug Store, later changed to Thomas Drug Store, two months before their marriage in May of that year in Ada, Ohio, her home town, where Mr. Thomas attended the Ohio Northern University from which he was graduated as a pharmacist. Mrs. Thomas became an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, and served for many years as president of the Ladies Aid Society. She also was prominent in social and civic affairs of the town throughout the active years of her life. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her capabilities as a cook, her dexterity at needle work and fancy work, and her ability to do many things well were always a marvel to her friends and neighbors. Her husband passed away April 12, 1932. A son, Carl and a daughter, Thelma, also preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Frank B. Jr., and Joseph N., who followed in their father's footsteps as pharmacists, taking over the Thomas Drug Store at his death; Frank is now sole proprietor of the store here, his brother, Joseph, having moved to Washington, D.C., where he is engaged in the drug business. Mrs. Thomas also leaves five grandsons, Frank, Terrence, Adrian, John and Nathan, the children of Frank Jr., and Irene (Bolden) Thomas, and one granddaughter, Alayne, the child of Joseph and Veronica (Dahl) Thomas, and also by one sister, Mrs. Anna Gill of Ada, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at her home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. D. L. Shaffer, Zion Lutheran Church supply pastor officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery under the direction of W. C. Price & Son. Meyersdale Republican, March 28, 1946
