Carl Thomas, 84, of Laurel View Village, formerly of Thomas Mills, went to be with the Lord July 1, 2003 at Laurel View Village, Davidsville. Born Feb. 1, 1919, in Hollsopple RD 1, Gobblers Hollow, son of David I,. and Alice Thomas. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Ferne E. Thomas, brothers Earl, Grant, and Ray, and sisters, Amelia Blough, Sadie Yoder, Mary Jane Lybarger, Stella Mishler, Anna Stahl, Edith Alwine, and Ida Cable. Survived by these children, Jeanne wife of Douglas Cober, and Judy, wife of Ronald Swank, both of Thomas Mills, and Dr. Janette Thomas-Greenwood, Worchester, Mass.; grandchildren, Tracey, married to Mike Seganos, Jill married to Len Dumin, Christine married to Bill Shroyer, Michael Swank, married to the former Laura Duncan, Wendy Sue married to Ed Elko, Sgt. Bradley Swank married to the former Lavonne Bailey, Elizabeth and Susannah Greenwood;, and great-grand-children, Alex and Jordan Shroyer, Lauren and Jaynie Seganos, Nikolai, Natalie and Alexandra Dumin, Larissa, Emily, David and Mary Jo Swank, and Alexander Elko. Brother of Hazel Lease, and Suie Mishler, all of Hollsopple, Clyde Thomas, Johnstown, and brother-in-law William C. Thomas, Kan. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and loving care givers of Laurel View Village. He was a member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren where he had served as deacon and, trustee and was a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. He retired from Johnstown Stonycreek Railroad as a conductor, and was a train enthusiast. An accident in 1971 left him a paraplegic for 32 years. He loved reading his Bible everyday and was an avid hunter, reader, woodworker and baseball fan. Family receiving friends from 2 to 9 p.m.. Thursday at the George E. Mason Funeral Home Davidsville. Memorial service, will he held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Rev. Wes Yoder officiating. Private graveside service.
