Thomas, 79, Boswell RD 1, died July 27, 1995, at Somerset Hospital. Born Aug. 16, 1915, in Jenner Township, son of James G. and Erma (Shaffer) Thomas. Preceded in death by parents; infant sister, Margaret, and brother, Vernon "Bud." Survived by wife, the former Ida Belle Hanlin; daughter, Dixie, wife of Wayne J. Friedline; grandsons: Jeff and fiancee, Pam Jacobs; Mike and fiancee, Tiffany Yoder; and two great-grandchildren: Jennifer and Dylan Friedline, all of Boswell RD 1; brother of: Hazel, widow of William Landis, Boswell; and Milton, married to Evelyn Drabish, Florida. Member of Laurel Trinity Evangelic Lutheran Church, Jennerstown; Jenner Rod and Gun Club, Ferndale Sportsmen Club; and Boswell Post 461 American Legion. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Retired in 1977 from former Johnstown works, U.S. Steel. Observed 55th wedding anniversary May 29, 1995. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Edward N. Cornelison officiating.
