  John A. Thomas, 67, Berlin, died Sept. 19, 1988, at Bedford County Memorial
  Hospital.  Born Oct. 23, 1920, in Berlin, son of John A. Sr. and Annie
  (Menges) Thomas.  Preceded in death by parents; sister, Martha Petran; and
  brother, A.L. Thomas.  Survived by his wife, the former Mabel C. Brick.  His
  death ends a marriage union of 47 years.  Daughter, Nancy Ann Thomas, at
  home; and grandson T. Richard Croner, Berlin RD 3.  Brother of: Lucille A.
  Ritchey and Kathrine ("Kay") Trent, both of Berlin RD 3; Mary Miller,
  Boswell; Joseph B., Bedford, Kathleen ("Lynn") Miller, Somerset RD 6; and
  Floyd S., Mason, Ohio.  Retired self-employed truck driver.  Member of:
  Berlin Brethren Church, Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, Berlin I.O.O.F.
  Lodge 461, Berlin Water Authority, Meyersdale F&AM 554, and Jaffa Shrine
  Temple, Altoona.  Member of the board of directors of Philson National Bank,
  Berlin.  Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
  Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, BERLIN, where service will be held at 1
  p.m. Friday, with the Revs. Ralph Mills and Ralph Landis officiating.
  Interment, I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Berlin.  Memorial contributions may be given
  to the Bedford Hospital Hospice or American Cancer Society. I.O.O.F.
  services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday.
