Born Jan. 7, 1918 in Berlin, son of the late John A. and Annie Rebecca (Menges) Thomas Sr. Also preceded in death by two sisters Martha Petran and Mary Miller; three brothers, Abraham, John Jr. and Floyd Thomas. On June 22, 1938 in Winchester, Va. he married Velma Mae "Temmy' Walker who survives along with the following family: Son, Robert A. married to the former RoseMarie Tayco Songcog, Thomas of Greenville, two granddaughters, who were raised by their grandparents Colleen Basore of Bedford and Shela wife of Steve Weiss of Ft Branch, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, one who was raised by her great-grandparents, Christie wife of Johnny Horn of Maims Choice, Kaleb Brown of N.Y. and Dain Hawkins of Bedford; two greatgreat-grandchildren, Brenna Becker and Emily Horn both of Manns Choice; three sisters, Lucille Ritchey, Katherine Trent and Kathleen Miller all of Somerset County. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Church of the Brethren, in Berlin and the Teamsters Union. He retired as a truck driver for Eastern Express, and prior to that drove coal truck for Thomas Brothers. He was also owner of Thomas Antiques for 25 years. He enjoyed cars, and boating after learning to water ski at age 50. He also enjoyed dancing and big band music. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home where service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph G. Landis officiating.
