Born Sept. 29, 1900, in Thomas Mills, daughter of John and Ellen (Beener) Grasser. Preceded in death by parents, husband Mahlon, who died Nov. 12, 1966; brothers and sisters: Charles Frederick, Anne Catherine, John Albert, William Andrew, Mary Ellen Hammer, Francis Joseph, James Daniel, Jacob Leo, Elizabeth Julia Hopps, Eva Josephine Saylor, Edward Levi, Henry Lewis and Regina Marie; nephews, Maurice Pete and Earl Frederick, and niece, Clara Grace. Last surviving member of the Grasser immediate family. Upon the death of her sister, Eva Saylor in 1944, Margaret and Mahlon assisted Eva's husband Earl in the raising of these surviving nieces and nephews: Nancy Manges and Jacob Saylor, both of Jerome; Anna Blough, Utah; James Saylor, of Ferrellton; Raymond Saylor, with whom Margaret resided, and Eva Mae Felix, Hollsopple RD. She also helped raise these special great-nieces and nephews: Barbara Saylor, Waco, Texas; Cheryl Shaffer, of Troy, Ala.; Margaret Emerick and Raymond Saylor Jr., both of Jenners, and Carl Saylor, Greensboro, N.C. Also survived by many other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish and Boswell Post 461, American Legion Auxiliary. Taught school at the former Saylor School in Thomas Mills as well schools in Hyasota and Jerome for several years. Worked for the former Goldstein and Levine Garment Factory, Johnstown, and retired from the former Dorfman and Hoffman Garment Factory in Boswell. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 3:45 p.m. Sunday. Funeral mass at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset. The Rev. Msgr. Samuel J. Tomaselli, celebrant. Committal, Somerset County Memorial Park.
