Thomas, 55, of 266 Marker Drive, Somerset, formerly of Boswell, died April 18, 1978, in the Somerset Community Hospital. Born Feb. 26, 1923, in Somerset County, a son of Roland C. and Maude P. (Shaffer) Thomas. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Vivian E. Brant, who died Aug. 16, 1968; and an infant sister, Florence. Survived by these children: Pamela Y., wife of Nevin J. Miller of Harrisburg; Kirsten L., at home; Pvt. 2nd Class Joel M., serving with the U.S. Army in West Germany. Brother of Chalmer of Jacksonville, Fla. Member of Mount Tabor United Church of Christ; VFW Somerset Post, 554; retired in 1971 from General Motors, Fischer Body Plant, Euclid, Ohio, with 19 years service; and an Army veteran of World War H. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, 727 Allegheny St., Boswell, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev.
