Born July 23, 1924, Conemaugh Township, son of Edgar and Bertha (Hershberger) Thomas. Preceded in death by one daughter, Sally; son, Dennis R., who died July 4, 1981; grandmother; and three sisters. Survived by father, of Scalp Level; wife, the former Emma Erisman; these children: Beverly, wife of William Parks, Richmond, Va.; Clifford, at home; Connie Marie, wife of Brian J. Zanoni, Boswell RD; one grandson, Jonathan. Brother of Donald, married to Thelma Eash, Twinsburg, Ohio; Alton, married to Betty Louise Karl, Cleveland, Ohio; Nevin, married to Shirley Schmidt, Ligonier. Member of Maple Springs Church of the Brethren where he was a head usher and member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Veteran of World War II, served with 398th Infantry, member of the 100th Sons of Bitche. Retired from U.S. Steel Corp., member of Local 1288. Family receiving friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at George E. Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville. Remains will be removed to Maple Springs Church of the Brethren at 10 a.m. Tuesday where he will lie in state until time of service at 11 a.m., the Rev. R. Eugene Miller. Interment, church cemetery.
