Thomas, died at her home on Water Street, Thursday night, April 16th, after an illness of about eight months, from cancer, for which she underwent an operation about seven months ago. She was born at Bidwell, Fayette County, on August 5th, 1869, and was aged 61 years, 8 months and 12 days. She was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Adeline Groff, and was married about thirty-five years ago to William R. Thomas who, with three sons, survives her. The surviving sons are Arthur, of Confluence, and Albert and Lawrence, at home. She is also survived by three grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Ross Groff, Confluence; Leonard Groff, Ohio Pyle; Mrs. Ellen Lingenfeld, Mrs. Rebecca Burnworth and Miss Annie Groff, Confluence. She was a life long member of the Church of God at Sugar Loaf, where she resided when young. She had been a resident of Confluence for 28 years. Funeral services were held at the family home on Water Street at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 19th, Rev. Howard W. Jamison of the Confluence Methodist Episcopal Church officiating. Interment in the Sugar Loaf Cemetery. Charles B. Humbert was in charge of the interment. Meyersdale Republican, April 23, 1931
