Born June 26, 1915 in Southampton Township, daughter of the late Ulysses G. and Effie Jane (Shroyer) Custer. Preceded in death in November 1983 by her husband of 48 years, Edward E. Thomas, a brother, Ray A. Custer, and a granddaughter Deanna Boland. Survived by daughters: Effie A. Brown, Buffalo, N.Y.; Eleanor L. Stair, fiancee of Joe Klucher, New Paris; Shelby J., wife of John Gable, Cresaptown, Md.; Roberta J., wife of the late Robert Boland, Easley, S.C.; and Leetta F., wife of Ronald Smith, Depew, N.Y.; sister, Mary E. Emerick, Hyndman RD 1; sisters-in-law, Alma Custer, Hyndman RD 1 and Hazel, wife of Robert Farr, San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She attended Faith Community Church, Hyndman. Member of Hyndman Grange #1954 and the Hyndman Senior Citizens. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Terry L. Campbell officiating. Interment, Comps Cemetery, Southampton Township.
