Thomas, 73, Salisbury, died March 3, 1984, at home. Born Aug. 21, 1910, in Markleysburg, Pa., son of late Ferd and Ada (Markley) Thomas. Survived by wife, former Carrie R. Bowman; two sons: Stanley B., and Garfield F., both of Salisbury; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; also two step-brothers, Howard Johnson, Meyersdale, and Carl Johnson, West Palm Beach, Fla.; aunt, Carrie G. Markley, Markleysburg; and cousin, Mary Elizabeth Hinebaugh, Markleysburg. Founded Thomas Funeral Home in 1935 and operated it until 1972. Member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Member of County, State, and National Funeral Directors Associations. Charter member of Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department. Charter member Salisbury Lions Club. Former member and president Salisbury-Elk Lick School Board and Salisbury Industrial Association. Director of Citizens National Bank, Meyersdale. Member of B.P.O.E. No. 1951, Meyersdale Member and past master Meyersdale Lodge No. 554, F & AM; Uniontown Commandery; Harrisburg Consistory; and Jaffa Shrine. Friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury, where service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Revs. David E. Fetter and Mark J. Stewart officiating.
