All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ ULYSSES GRANT THOMAS Ulysses Grant Thomas died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Younkin, Rockwood R.D. 2, at 12:52 p.m. on Thursday, April 3rd of cerebral hemorrhage, after an illness of about two weeks. Mr. Thomas was retired for about 20 years, and until about a year ago, lived on Route 1, Salisbury. His wife, Orpha (Rubright) Thomas preceded him in death on November 27, 1942. He was born in Somerset County, son of Amos and Barbara (Livengood) Thomas on November 1, 1868, and was 78 years, 5 months and 2 days old at his death. In addition to his daughter, Lucy Younkin, he is survived by a second daughter, Mrs. Leo Baer of Meyersdale, and by three sons, Kenneth B. Thomas, Route 1, Salisbury; Paul A. Thomas, Baltimore, Md., and Ray Thomas of Hall Summit, Louisiana; and by two brothers, Mahlon Thomas of Salisbury and Milton Thomas of Ashland, Ohio. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Salisbury. Funeral services were held in the church at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7th, with his pastor, Rev. Ira S. Monn officiating. Interment in the St. Paul Cemetery in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas of Salisbury. Meyersdale Republican, April 10, 1947
