As a boy he was bell hop in the Markleton Sanitorium during that institution's flourishing days. A patient in the Sanitorium from McKeesport and his wife took a liking to young Thompson and became his sponsors in starting him on his career as a druggist and at their deaths he became their heir. He became very successful in the business world. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Stansbury of Pittsburgh who is well known in Ursina, having spent the early years of her life with her grandparents here. Her husband is physical director in the Irene Kauffman Settlement in Pittsburgh. Mr. Thompson had a lot of friends in the McKeesport and Pittsburgh districts. He had been in poor health for a number of years. Robert Levy and several other boyhood friends attended the funeral, which was held in McKeesport Friday afternoon. Meyersdale Republican, May 2, 1940
