  Jack R. Thompson, 68, 210 Quaker Ave., Johnstown, died Dec. 4, 1989, at
  Memorial Hospital.  Born May 18, 1921, in Johnstown, son of the late John H.
  and Elizabeth (Reed) Thompson.  Preceded in death by brothers: Kenneth and
  Raymond, and a sister, Lillian Orris.  Survived by his wife, Faye L.
  (Layton) Thompson; and these children: Jack R. Jr., South Carolina; Barry,
  married to Andrea Gillin, Mechanicsburg; Debra, wife of Paul Gelesh, New
  Jersey; and Robert, Spring, Tex.; also six grandchildren.  Brother of
  Richard, Redmond, Wash.; William, Rockwood; Gene, Johnstown; Beatrice
  Pierson, Boswell, and Adeline Young, Hollywood, Ha.  Member of Moxham
  Lutheran Church, Johnstown.  Retired from U.S. Steel Corp.  U.S. Army
  Veteran.  Friends received from 2.4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the John
  Henderson Co.  Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Johnstown, where service will
  be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Edward V. DeVore officiating.
  Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
