(Neri) 07/08/05 Daily American Jean M. (Neri) Thompson, 86, Neri Drive, Friedens (Coal Junction), died July 6, 2005, at Somerset Hospital. Born May 5, 1919, in Coal Junction, daughter of Antonio and Maria (Bignardi) Neri. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Roy R., on March 21, 1994; sisters, Jennie Neri, Angeline Brescia and Pearl Oldren; and brothers, George and Archille "Kelly." Survived by daughters, Mary Ann, married to Robert Grotto, Palm Bay, Fla.; and Donna Thompson, Somerset; grandchildren, Dominick and Angelina Grotto, Palm Bay, Fla.; sister, Estelle Coppola, Barefoot Bay, Fla.; and brothers, Lewis, Jennerstown; Dwight "Bunny," Mercer; and Anthony, married to Joyce Owen, Coal Junction; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. During World War II, Jean worked for Bendix Aviation in New York City, where she helped build the first radar units for the Armed Forces. She and her husband continued to live in New York until he retired in 1981 and they moved back home to Coal Junction. Member of All Saints Catholic parish. Avid bingo player and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Main Street, Boswell, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Monday at All Saints Chapel, Acosta. The Rev. Father Daniel G. Fink, OFM, Conv., celebrant. Committal Mount Carmel Cemetery, Jenner Township.
