Thompson, 85, 348 Third St., Gray, died Sept. 11, 1980 at Somerset Community Hospital. Born April 27, 1895 in Brookville, Pa., son of John C. and Lillie M. (Carrol) Thompson. Preceded in death by parents, wife, the former Frances E. Enos, who died Feb. 13, 1972; son, Asa W., killed in World War II; and three sisters. Survived by these children: Dorothy, wife of Luther C. Fisher, Windham, Ohio; Jean, wife of Charles E. Paterson, Edgewood, Md.; Ethel, wife of Louis Lohr, Stoystown RD 3; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Retired coal miner, was employed by Pittsburgh-Consolidation Coal C. until retirement. Past member and secretary of Gray Water Authority. Former member and now honorary member of State Council, Civil Defense. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I. Member of Jenner Local No. 1742, UMWA, past secretary-treasurer of former Gray Local UMWA, member of Boswell American Legion Post 461, he attended Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell, where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, the Bev.
