Thompson Sr., 80, of Windber went to be with the Lord May 30, 2003. Born Feb. 10, 1923 in Heilwood, Pa. son of the late Clair and Edna (Fetterman) Thompson. Preceded in death by wife Cathryn "Marie" Thompson; brothers George, Roy, and Johnny Thompson. Survived by these children: Karen (Thompson) Dunsten, Windber; Carol Ann, wife of George Gourley, Somerset; Murray Thompson Jr. married to former Paula Neiderlander, Windber; Nancy J. wife of Charles Barnes, Windber; Donald D. Thompson married to the former Donna Eger, Wesley Chapel and George R. Thompson, Windber; grandchildren: Susan L. (Dunsten) Murin; William R. Dunsten Jr. and Jean Ann Dunsten; Michael C. Gourley and fiancee, Valerie Lamendola and Jennie (Gourley) Klejka; Rodger J., David R.; Christy M. and Matthew A. Thompson; Charles Ryan Barnes; Ashley Ann, Rose Marie, Rebecca Jean and Zechariah Taylor Thompson; great-grandchildren: Nicole Marie Murin; Jeremiah, Chelsea and Josiah Klejka. Brother of Harry Thompson and wife Florence, Clyde; Keziah wife of Robert Getty, Ohio and Martha wife of Ken Byers, Indiana. Also survived by sisters-in-law Louise Thompson, Hopewell and June Thompson, Arcadia. Murray was a U.S. Army Veteran, WorId War II and was a former coal miner and a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Johnstown, Franklin mill with 32 years service. Member of Clymer VFW and American Legion. Member and past President of Windber F.O.E. Aerie 1633. Murray loved gardening and was an avid gardener. Member of Scalp Level Trinity United Methodist Church, Windber, where family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Family will also receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Rev. Arthur T. Moffat Jr. officiating. Interment Oakland Cemetery, Indiana with graveside military honors. Arrangements by William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Scalp Level Trinity U. M. Church or the Regional Hospice of Windber. Florists may deliver flowers directly to the church after noon on Monday.
