Thompson, 87, passed from this life to meet the Lord, March 24, 2007. Born Feb. 9, 1920, in Black Township, the son of the late Norman Bruce and Daisey Ruth (Brant) Thompson. Also preceded in death by his wife, Audine (Shumaker) Thompson; daughter, Norma A. (Thompson) Barron and her husband, Don; and brother, Dean E. Thompson. Survived by sister, Fern E. Lyzbicki, Corriganville, Md.; brother, Blaine W. Thompson and wife, Betty Lou, Somerset; sister-in-law, Blanche Mock, Chambersburg; grandchildren, Nicolle Barron and Troy Barron, Everett; and many nieces and nephews. Norm attended Bible Baptist Church, Somerset and was a 58 year member and past president of the Somerset Volunteer Fire Co. He was a long standing member of the Somerset American Legion, FOE Aire 1801, Somerset VFW and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Retired from Standard Oil Co. and the Area Agency on Aging, serving as manager of the Windber Center. Norm will be sadly missed by family and friends alike. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 14 in the Bible Baptist Church, Route 281 north, Somerset. Dr. Dale A. Lyzbicki, pastor officiating. In lieu of flowers, family request that memorial donations be sent to the Bible Baptist Church for mission funds, P.O. Box 135, Somerset, PA 15501. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park.
