He was born Aug. 3, 1895, in Universal, Pa., the son of Joseph A. and Annie (McVeigh) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Kathryn Miller; his parents, one son and two sisters. He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Irving (Ada) Smith, Glencoe RD 1; and Mrs. Merle (Donna) Foust, Garrett RD 1; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also survived by brother, Joseph of Tampa, Fla.; and two sisters: Mrs. Naomi McConville and Mrs. Violet Metzger, both of North Braddock; a half-sister, Mrs. Laura Dowie. He was machinest with Westinghouse until his retirement in 1956. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. A veteran of U. S. Army, World War I, member of Disabled American Veterans, Harry Fisher Post No. 445, American Legion, Robert Walker Post No. 4333 VFW, Berlin; and Veterans of World War I of USA, Pennsylvania Barracks No. 3216, Somerset. Friends were received at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, Berlin, where services were held with the Rev. E. Wayne Rickard officiating. Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
