Thorley, of 2235 Green Street, Harrisburg, at one time a druggist in Meyersdale, passed away in the Harrisburg Hospital, April 26, 1946. Funeral services were held April 30, followed by burial in the Harrisburg Cemetery. He is survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Alma Thorley, and his son, Charles E. Thorley. Mr. Thorley came to Meyersdale some time during the first decade of the 1900's when he bought out the drug store owned by the Clutton Brothers, located in the building now occupied Robertson's Restaurant. In 1914 Mr. Thorley retired from business here and returned to Harrisburg to take over the management of his father's drug store, an established business of many years. He continued as proprietor of that store at 404 Verbeke Street after the death of his father and until his own death, which occurred a short time after he underwent a major surgical operation for a chronic ailment. He left an estate of $34,000 according to estimate made at the Dauphin County Courthouse. His son is the sole heir. During the time he was a resident in Meyersdale he took an active part in community affairs. He was a member of the Meyersdale quartet, a popular musical organization of that time, of which the other members were W. H. Baldwin, Harry Cook and Paul Clutton. Meyersdale Republican, May 16, 1946
